Memphis Great Start Readiness and Preschool programs encourage and promote children to learn through play. Social skills, exploring and learning all occur daily during play. Preschool promotes social and emotional development and prepares children for Kindergarten.
As Kindergarten becomes more academic, many parents and families look to preschool to launch their child on the path to success in school. Children leave our preschool program with a strong foundation for academic success and the experience of social interactions with other students.
Memphis Preschool Programs utilize HighScope curriculum, where teachers and children are active partners in the learning process. Children are assessed using the Child Observation Record (COR), that coincides with the Highscope curriculum.

The school district does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, religion, height, weight, or marital status in its programs and activities. In addition, arrangements can be made to ensure that the lack of English language proficiency is not a barrier to admission or participation.
